I love the look of good bows, but I’m terrible at making them. This tutorial is geared towards making the bows from magazine pages (with some very handy cutting instructions based on the size of US magazines), but it could be very easily adapted to making from grosgrain ribbon with a bit of hot glue or some old fashion needle’n’thread.
Patty, my 24-year-old daughter has suddenly decided she wants to learn to sew, in order to make simple alterations. I would like to give her a sewing machine for Christmas, along with lessons, but only a few because she lives in the Midwest and I live in California. Do you have an idea for a machine that is easy to use for a beginner? All I’ve ever sewn on is an Elna, first my mom’s 1950s version and then my 1980s one. Thanks!
p.s. my budget is about $200.
